The FA Women's Super League 2011 was the first edition of the newly founded FA WSL . It superseded the FA Women's Premier League and has been the highest English women's soccer league ever since. It is organized under the umbrella of the Football Association . The 2011 season started on April 14th and ended on August 28th of that year. Some games were broadcast live on ESPN .

The championship was held with eight teams in a closed league without relegation. The champions and runners-up were qualified for the 2012/13 UEFA Women's Champions League , where the Arsenal Ladies knocked the women from 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam out of the tournament and only lost to VfL Wolfsburg in the final .
