The FA Women's Super League 2017/18 was the eighth edition of the highest English women's football league , the FA WSL . Since the "Spring Series" called FA Women's Super League 2017 is not counted, it is considered the seventh season. It was organized under the umbrella of the Football Association . The season was carried out from September 2017 to June 2018 as the first "winter season".
The championship, which has been held since 2014 in two league levels with initially eight and then nine or ten teams, between which there should actually be a direct promotion or relegation, was increased to ten teams in the first division for the 2017/18 season.
The champions and runners-up qualified for the 2018/19 UEFA Women's Champions League . As in the “Spring Series”, Chelsea Ladies FC won the championship , this time six points ahead of Manchester City Women . The games between the two ended in a draw. In the Champions League, Chelsea reached the semi-finals, the Citizens were eliminated in the sixteenth finals. There was no direct relegation, but the Sunderland AFC Ladies did not apply for a license for the following season and played in the FA Women's National League.
Attendees
