Career

societies

White began her football career at her father Jon White's "Mini Ducks" football academy and then played for Aylesbury Town before joining the Arsenal Ladies' youth team . In 2005 she moved to local rivals Chelsea, for whom she scored the most goals in three seasons. They escaped as bottom of the table in the 2005/06 season only by a 3-0 home win and a 1-1 away draw in the playoffs against Liverpool, the runners-up in the Northern Division, relegation. 2006/07 she helped with 11 goals in 16 games as Chelsea's top scorer that the club was not in danger of relegation again. In 2007/08 she was able to help Chelsea finish fifth with just six goals.

In 2008 she moved to the Leeds Carnegie Ladies , but fell out for a long time due to an injury in the first season. She only came on two missions in which she scored two goals. In 2009/10 she then led Leeds to third place with 15 goals in 22 games and into the final of the Premier League Cup , where she scored two goals and thus contributed to Leeds' first title.

In 2010 she returned to the Arsenal Ladies, with whom she won the FA Women's Cup in 2011. She was also the English champion with Arsenal in 2011 and 2012. In 2011 she was fourth-best goalscorer with six goals. In 2012, she had a smaller share of the championship with three goals. In 2013, Arsenal finished only third and White left the Gunners at the end of the season to join Notts County , the successor to the Lincoln Ladies.

With Arsenal she also took part in the UEFA Women's Champions League four times . In 2010/11 she was used in eight games, scored three goals and was only eliminated in the semifinals against eventual winners Olympique Lyon after two defeats (0: 2 and 2: 3). In the following two years the semi-finals were also reached, where they lost twice to the German runners-up 1. FFC Frankfurt and VfL Wolfsburg . In 2012, her goals played a decisive role in the fact that the two round of 16 games against 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam were won 2: 1 and 4: 3. In 2013/14 she only made four appearances. Since she moved to Notts County for the 2014 season, she did not experience the quarter-finals against league rivals Birmingham City LFC .

After a cruciate ligament rupture in preparation for the season, she was canceled for the entire 2014 season. In 2015 she was then used in all league games, but only scored three goals. She helped the club to improve to fifth in the table, but it was a step backwards for her. In 2016 Notts fell back to sixth place, White scored three goals in ten games this time.

For the "Spring Series" called short transition season 2017, she moved to Birmingham City. White was used in half of the eight games of the season, scoring two goals. Birmingham finished the season in seventh place. The 2017/18 season, which has now been adapted to the normal European game calendar, turned out to be her best season personally, as she became top scorer with 15 goals and her club improved by two places. In 2018/19 Birmingham improved by one more place. White had a smaller share of this, however, as she was only used in eight games and scored six goals. On May 16, 2019, it was announced that White would not renew their expired contract. On the same day, Manchester City announced the signing of White.

National teams

White played for the English U-17, -19, -20 and -23 teams and took part in the U-19 European Championship , where she and England lost 2-0 to Germany in the final. With three goals she was one of the top three goalscorers in the tournament. On March 25, 2010, she made her senior national team debut in the World Cup qualifier against Austria when she came on for Dunia Susi in the 62nd minute . In the 90th minute she scored the 3-0 final score. White was the youngest player in the English squad for the 2011 World Cup . In the first World Cup game against Mexico , she was substituted on in the 72nd minute. Then she was in the starting line-up in all games and scored the 1-0 opening goal in the game against Japan . In the quarter-finals against France , which England lost on penalties, she missed the chance to score in the 103rd minute.

In 2012 she was part of Team GB , which participated in the Olympic Games in London . She was used in three games, but was eliminated in the quarterfinals against Canada.

She was in the English squad for the EM 2013 in Sweden and was used in the three games, but remained without a goal.

In qualifying for the 2015 World Cup , she was only used in the first half and scored three goals in five games. At the World Cup in Canada , she was in the first group game, which was lost to France 1-0 in the starting line-up, but was replaced after an hour. Your team then qualified for the knockout round with two wins. But she was only substituted on again in the quarter-finals against the hosts in the 79th minute for record national player Fara Williams . With the 2-1 victory, the English women moved into the World Cup semi-finals for the first time. Here she was substituted on at 1: 1 after an hour. Due to an own goal by their teammate Laura Bassett in the second minute of stoppage time, the English missed the final. In the game for third place against Germany she was back in the starting line-up, but was replaced after an hour. The only goal of the game was scored by Williams in extra time with a penalty, which was the first time a victory against Germany was achieved.

In the subsequent qualification for the 2017 European Championship , she was only used in three games and scored two goals. Since the English only lost one point in the 1-1 draw against Belgium , they easily qualified as group winners for the European Championship.

There she scored the third of six goals in the first group game against northern neighbors Scotland , then was substituted on after 74 minutes. She was also in the starting line-up in the 2-0 game against Spain in the second group game , but was replaced again at the end of the game. With the two victories, the English women qualified for the knockout round early. She was not used for some regular players in the third group game against Portugal . She was only used again in the quarter-finals against France and played over 90 minutes there. The sixth goal from Jodie Taylor won the game 1-0. The next 90 minutes were then among their bitterest, because the semi-finals were lost 3-0 to the hosts .

In qualifying for the 2019 World Cup , she made four appearances, but could not score a goal. The English only gave up a point in the goalless draw in their home game against Wales and qualified early for the World Cup.

In March 2019 she won the SheBelieves Cup for the first time and was used in the three games. In the meantime, she scored the 1: 1 in the 2-1 win against Brazil . This was followed by a brief appearance in the 0-1 home defeat against Canada and 90 minutes in the 2-1 win against Spain, where they put their team 2-0 in the lead. On May 8th she received the nomination for the World Cup . At the World Cup, she was used in six games and scored six goals, replacing Fara Williams as England's top scorer with seven World Cup goals. She scored as many tournament goals as Megan Rapinoe and Alex Morgan , but gave no assists and therefore received the "bronze shoe" as the third best goalscorer of the tournament. With her team she finished fourth.
