List of nodes

The FB-band clamp node is a by Austrian Franz Bachmann from the Klemheist or klemheist knot evolved terminal node . In the meantime, the FB-Kreuzklemm has been developed from this as the latest clamping knot.

application

It is used to climb a fixed rope , or as a backstop when making makeshift pulley blocks . Like the Prusik knot, it holds in both directions.

When building a rope bridge or cable car , it is used to attach the pulley block to the suspension rope. The band clamp knot is the best knot to take up large loads without damaging the rope sheath.

Knot

Manufacture of the FB band clamp
knot ( 1st to 3rd) FB band clamp knot with different strap loops (4th and 5th).
  1. A loop is formed as close as possible to the sewn connection of a tape loop using a blind stitch .
  2. The sling prepared in this way is wrapped around the rope three times from the knotted loop against the intended direction of passage of the rope.
  3. From there, the loop is wound down one full turn and the end is put through the loop.

advantages

The FB tape clamp knot is superior to the Prusik knot in three points because of the small loop ("seam loop") formed close to the sewn connection. The open seam loop

  • facilitates looping through

and causes

  • the clamping effect of the knot comes into its own under load and it even holds on steel cables ,
  • when the pressure is released, the knot is released immediately and can be easily moved

Alternatives

  • The Prusik knot is usually used to climb the rope .
  • As the latest, highly effective variant of the offers from the use of slings FB Prusik at
  • Speleologists use mechanical ascenders .
  • The snap knot is particularly easy to move when wearing gloves .
  • The Prohaska is used as a kind of "Kurzprusik" .
