List of nodes

The FB-cross clamping (in the Bergwacht Bayern BW_Kreuzklemmknoten ) is after the FB-band clamp node a from Austrian Franz Bachmann from the clamping Heist or klemheist knot evolved terminal node . As with the FB tape clamp knot, Bachmann uses the often annoying stiffening of the tape loop at the double seam as an essential element of the knot and dispenses with the small "seam loop" formed by a blind stitch. It is the simplest and most effective clamping knot and at the same time more than a full replacement for the Tiblocas it holds in both directions and does not injure the rope.

application

It is used to climb a fixed rope , or as a backstop when making makeshift pulley blocks . With a 30 cm Dynema loop 10 mm, it is the ideal backup when abseiling .

When building a rope bridge or cable car , it is used to attach the pulley block to the suspension rope. The FB-Kreuzklemm is ideally suited to take up large loads without damaging the rope sheath.

FB-Kreuzklemm instead of Kurzprusik as self-locking, e.g. B. abseiling
  1. hold the double seam connection to the fixed rope with one hand
  2. Wrap the free end of the sling around the rope two or three times against the intended direction of passage of the rope
  3. from there, the loop is wound down one complete turn and the end is put through the opening at the seam connection.

advantages

The FB-Kreuzklemm is superior to the Prusik knot in three points because of the double seam connection of the sling. The open seam loop

  • facilitates looping through

and causes

  • the clamping effect of the knot comes into its own under load and it even holds on steel cables ,
  • when the pressure is released, the knot is released immediately and can be easily moved

In summary: the FB-Kreuzklemm is safe, easy to tie and quick to release.

Alternatives

  • The Prusik knot is usually still used to ascend the rope with reepers . However, the tape slings have largely displaced the accessory cords in personal protective equipment (PPE), so that the FB cross clamp is the "cable solution" here too.
  • Another effective variant is the FB-Prusik when using tape slings ; but it is more complex to knot than the FB-Kreuzklemm.
  • Speleologists use mechanical ascenders .
  • The snap knot is particularly easy to move when wearing gloves .
