Herbert Strickner, a football enthusiast from Wattenen, came to Neustift as a teacher in 1948 and began to play football with his students and other young people. In the 1950s he put together a team that was accepted into the Tyrolean Football Association in 1962. He played in this team in the 1960s, mostly as a veteran or goalkeeper. He was chairman of the entire club for 10 years and head of the football section for 20 years. The Tyrolean Football Association appointed to the board in 1966.

From the beginnings of football in Neustift

In Kampl, Herbert Strickner and his footballers were able to use a suitable gravel pitch at the Habichtshof, which was halfway flat and belonged to the Catholic Tyrolean Teachers' Association. At first the football players were tolerated and then driven out again until they were able to negotiate a lease with the teachers' association in 1961. The footballers took care of the construction of changing rooms and a washing facility. They only played friendly games against teams from the Wipptal, Innsbruck area and the low mountain range. In the meantime, the soccer team has been incorporated into the existing SV Neustift.

SV Neustift was accepted by the Tyrolean Football Association on June 20 and started in 2nd class in the 1962/63 season. The opponents and the Neustift football players criticized their own home ground and tried to get a grass pitch from the community. But nothing came of it during that time. In the mid-1970s, the Stubai Valley champions became 2nd class champions despite adverse conditions and were promoted.

The football field was covered with a sand surface, but remained an unpopular hard court. In the 1978/79 season, the Stubaitaler made it to the regional league West, 1980/81 in the then amateur league, which was then divided into two years two years later and renamed the regional league West and East. In 1986 the Neustifters celebrated the championship title in the Landesliga West and rose to the Tyrolean League, the then fourth Austrian division. The sports field repeatedly demanded injuries to its own players and there were criticisms from players of the guest club and complaints from the Tyrolean Football Association.

Despite these conditions, the Stubaitaler reached the Tyrolean Cup final in 1986 and had to give up the then regional division SC Imst with 1: 1 and 1: 2. In the 1986/87 ÖFB Cup, Neustift beat SV Kundl 2-1 in the 1st round and SV Rum 1-0 in the 2nd round, and SV Salzburg was 0 in front of 1,000 spectators in the 3rd round: 4 terminus. In the next few years the club lost a few top performers and the club had to accept relegation to the Landesliga West in 1990. Provisional operation began in autumn 1994, and the new sports facility with grass pitch was handed over on June 22, 1997.

In 2000, the club achieved promotion to the Tyrolean League with the championship title in the Landesliga West, in 2002 the Neustifters were relegated to the Landesliga West, in 2005 to the Tyrolean League, 2006 to the Landesliga West, and 2013 to the Tyrolean League , In 2014 in the regional league and in 2016 in the regional league west. The Stubai Valley team has been playing in the Landesliga West since 2017. In 2019 the merger with the other clubs from the Stubai Valley took place and the team continued to play under FC Stubai in the Landesliga West.

Ignaz Tomandlund and several gymnastics friends got together and founded the gymnastics society Stubaital on October 19, 1904. After the Second World War, in 1945, the Fulpmes sports club was founded. The gymnastics club and the "Edelweiß" table tennis club, founded in 1947, have been together since 1957 and offer football, skiing and tobogganing under the name TSV Fulpmes. In the 1980s tennis and basketball were added.

At the beginning of the 1990s the soccer department was in the Tyrolean League and was tenth of fourteen teams and played there until 1997. The club was in the Landesliga West until 2003 and was relegated to the Regional League West. Three years later, in 2006 they were promoted to the Landesliga West, 2008 to the Regional League West, 2011 to the District League West and 2012 to the 1st class West. In the next 2013/14 season, the Fulpmer managed promotion to the District League West and played in the District League West since 2017. The sports association in Mieders was founded in 1968 with skiing and tobogganing because the construction of the Serlesbahn, which went into operation in 1970, was planned. After a while, football was also added, which was played on the makeshift football field in the summer. Table tennis was offered until 1979.

In the 1980s, footballers wanted a new sports field. The people from Mieder thought of a gravel pit at the Serles lifts, a common sports field with Telfes in the area between Kirchbrücker and Wiesenhof next to the Ruetz, or the renovation of the old square. All three proposals were rejected. In 1984 Raika Mieders joined as a sponsor.

The sports club Mieders / Schönberg played in the 2nd class Innsbruck in the 1990/91 season and placed eighth out of twelve teams. In the next few years until 2001 the team in Schönberg played as SV Schönberg, in 2nd class. No information is available about the founding of SV Schönberg.

The sports field in Mieders became less and less usable and the club had to look for another place for the home games. The football department at SV Mieders was dormant and the club was close to being dissolved. With the construction of the new sports field, which was initially not playable due to the lack of a fence, this could be averted.

In 2001 the Schönbergers were promoted to the West Regional League and in 2004 to the 1st class Middle. In the meantime, in 2002, the sports field with the ancillary facilities was finished and handed over to the sports club, which activated the soccer section and started in the 2nd class middle from the 2003/04 season. In 2012 the club was promoted to 1st class West and in 2016 to the District League West. In the 2018/19 season, the sports club took 14th and last place. In 2019 the merger with the other clubs from the Stubai Valley took place and the team integrated into FC Stubai as a junior team.

At SV Schönberg, which were in 2nd class middle in the 2017/18 season, the merger with the other clubs from the Stubai Valley took place in 2019 and the team integrated into FC Stubai as a youth team.

Renaming to FC Stubai

SSV Neustift, who played in the regional league West, joined forces in 2019 with TSV Fulpmes, who played in the regional league West, SV Mieders, who were relegated from the regional league West, and SV Schönberg, who relegated from 2nd class middle, to FC Stubai, who played in the Landesliga West.

The teams of the clubs were retained and play like at SSV Neustift and TSV Fulpmes under FC Stubai, SV Mieders and SV Schönberg strengthened the junior teams.

Women's soccer

The SV Neustift women's team entered into a syndicate with SV Matrei in 2017 and has played in the women's Tyrolean league since then. From the 2019/20 season the team will be called SPG FC Stubai / Matrei.
