Xiao Jie ( Chinese  李贵鲜 * June 1957 in Kaiyuan , province of Liaoning ) is a politician of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in the People's Republic of China , among others, between 2007 and 2013. Life

Xiao Jie, a member of the Han ethnic group , began his professional career in 1976 and graduated from the Finance Department of China People's University between 1978 and 1982 . He became a member of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in 1985 and also completed postgraduate studies at the Finance Ministry's Research Institute of Finance between 1987 and 1989 . He was Deputy Director of the Ministry of Finance's Planning Department between 1993 and 1994, and was then Deputy Director of the General Reform Department from 1994 to 1998. During this time he was a student at the Central Party College of the Communist Party of China between 1994 and 1995 and also obtained a doctorate in 1995 from the Research Institute of Finance. He also served as director of the central department of the Ministry of Finance from 1998 to 2000 and director of the treasury department there between 2000 and 2001.

Xiao Jie then served as vice minister of finance from 2001 to 2005, during which time he was also a member of the CCP leadership group in the Ministry of Finance. In addition, from 2004 to 2005 he was also vice-president of the Red Cross Society of China. Subsequently, he served between 2005 and 2007 as vice-governor of the province of Hunan , and also belonged to the Standing Committee of the Provincial Committee of the CPC in Hunan on during this time. He also became a member of the Central Leadership Group of the CPC Central Committee for Finance and Economics in 2017. Since 2018 he has succeeded Yang Jing as Secretary General in the State Council of the People's Republic of China and as State Commissioner a member of the State Council.
