The FC Zollikofen is a Swiss football club , based in Zollikofen in Bern , which especially in women's football has been successful.

history

A football club was founded in Zollikofen as early as 1922. However, this dissolved again 4 years later, in 1926.

In 1960 the club was re-established and started training on July 1, 1960. A year later, the first championship of FC Zollikofen began. At that time the games were still played in Schönbühl . In 1962 the own sports field "Frohe Aussicht" was built; This allowed FC Zollikofen to play their home games in their own village.

After 12 years of existence, FC Zollikofen was able to record its first major sporting success. The first team rose in 1972 to the 3rd division of Swiss men's football. At that time the club already had a second amateur team and its own youth department.

Together with the establishment of their own football school for young people in 1978, the new community sports field "Geisshubel" was also opened. The "Frohe Aussicht" sports field, which was getting on in years, had to be refurbished a few years later and was responsible for the greatest financial expense in the history of the club.

In 1983, the year after the renovation, the first team rose to the 2nd division . And the Juniors B were also able to move up to the "Inter B II" that year.

The clubhouse of FC Zollikofen, which still exists today, next to the "Geisshubel" sports field, was built in 1992 with the help of all the members of the community.

The Geisshubel sports field was completely renovated in 2015 and equipped with artificial turf so that several teams can train on it more often. In particular, the various junior teams do not have to train on other sports fields. FC Zollikofen contributed a five-digit amount to the renovation costs.

Ladies team

The women's team at FC Zollikofen was founded in 1996 after the junior training program had also been introduced a year earlier. Seven years after it was founded, the women's team was able to move up to the 1st league (third highest division in Switzerland). This made the women the most successful department at FC Zollikofen. 2012 FC was Zollikofen champion of the first league and could in the National League B rise. In the 2012/2013 season , however, FC Zollikofen was only second from bottom and had to go into the relegation round. In the end, FC Zollikofen was relegated to the first division again after just one season . Since the FC Zollikofen then accepted more and more young people from the area Grauholz , the team then called itself Team Grauholz . Today FC Zollikofen plays in the 2nd league (fourth highest league in Switzerland).
