The steam locomotive series SB 34 was a tender locomotive series of the Südbahngesellschaft (SB), a private Austrian-Hungarian railway company .

SB ordered ten quadruple-coupled locomotives from the StEG locomotive factory for the newly opened Brenner Railway . The plans came from the SB itself. The machines were delivered in 1867 and were assigned the serial number 34 and the company numbers 927-938. They had outer frames, which made a wide grate possible. At the time of delivery, the locomotives were the heaviest and most powerful in Austria .

With the commissioning of the SB 170 series , they were withdrawn from the Brennerbahn and stationed in Mürzzuschlag to be used on the Semmeringbahn .

In 1924 nine more machines came to Italy, where they were given the series designation FS 455 , but were soon retired.
