The FV Steinau (officially: Fußballverein Steinau 1919 eV ) is a soccer club from Steinau an der Strasse in the Main-Kinzig district . The first soccer team played for two years in the then fourth-class Oberliga Hessen .

history

The association was founded on July 16, 1919 as FV Steinau . In 1933 this merged with TV Steinau, founded in 1897, to form TSV Steinau 1897/1919 . On September 16, 1945, this became the Steinau sports and cultural community , which became the Steinau sports community on March 5, 1946 . In the 1950s there was a split into FV Steinau and TV Steinau .

In the mid-1960s, the club experienced an upswing up to the group league at that time . With the two Steinauers, midfield director Eberhard Geschwindner and striker Udo Schittrigkeit, the team played several times for promotion to the Hessen League. After decades in local playing classes, the 1990s saw the sporting highs. After four ascents in a row, the team trained by Kurt Kowarz reached the Oberliga Hessen in 1997. The chairman of the board, Norbert Schüler, and the chairman, Alfred Lotz, were behind the upswing. In the 1997/98 season , the Steinauer immediately reached eighth place. After that, numerous sponsors withdrew, so that the club moved into the following season with an overwhelmed team. With just one win, the FSC Lohfelden was beaten 2-0, the FV Steinau was bottom of the table. At FV Bad Vilbel , the team suffered a 9-0 defeat. A year later, the team also rose from the Landesliga Hessen-Nord with 120 goals conceded . Since 2008 the FV Steinau has been playing in the Fulda-Süd regional league .
