Fabbri 1905 SpA is an Italian food company active in the confectionery , ice cream parlor and syrups sectors.

history

Fabbri was founded in 1905 in Portomaggiore by Gennaro Fabbri, who bought an old grocery store for the production of liqueurs and syrups: This is how the Premiata Distilleria Liquori G. Fabbri was born. The little shop became more and more famous for selling beverages such as Virov , a zabaglione with a Marsala flavor , and Gran Forte Fabbri, a cognac distilled in Slovenian oak barrels .

In 1914 the company's headquarters were relocated to Bologna and a building in Borgo Panigale with attached land and shed was purchased.

At the same time as selling syrups, especially mint and grenadine , the production of what was considered to be the company's symbol, the Amarena cherry , began to be made, which was filled in special ceramic vases with blue and white decor from Faenza. So the company began to make a name for itself all over Italy with this new product, while the sons of Gennaro Fabbri, Romeo and Aldo, took over the company in the 1930s. Production in the 1930s expanded to include jams and cherry liqueurs, another great success for the company.

After the war, the founder's nephews, Fabio and Giorgio, transformed the company into a joint stock company: this is how G. Fabbri SpA was created. In the 1950s, the company began making raw materials for making ice cream. Later, with the introduction of television and, in particular, the cartoon Solomone pirata pacioccone in Carosello , the Fabbri brand conquered all of Italy and created a major advertising campaign that would also promote the company abroad.

In 1999 the company changed its name to Fabbri 1905 SpA to commemorate the year it was founded.

In 2002, two branches of the company were established: on the one hand Fabbri G. Holding Industriale Spa, which holds 100% of the shares in the parent company, and on the other hand Fabbri G. Gestione Immobiliari Spa, owner of the real estate assets. In 2005, the company celebrated its centenary with numerous events such as the publication of a monograph and the production of decorated vases with the famous Amarena cherry .

Fabbri has been a member of the International Bartenders Association since 2014 .
