Fabian Schönheim (born February 14, 1987 in Kirn ) is a German soccer player .

Career

societies

Schönheim's football career began at FSV Rehborn . There he played from 1993 to 1997 and - after a year-long stint at SG Desloch-Jeckenbach - from 1998 to 2001. In 2001 he joined 1. FC Kaiserslautern as a youth player . In the 2005/06 season he made his Bundesliga debut on October 22, 2005 against Borussia Mönchengladbach . His first and so far only goal in the Bundesliga he scored on the Betzenberg on February 7, 2006 against 1. FC Köln to make it 2-2. For the second half of the 2008/09 season, Schönheim moved to SV Wehen Wiesbaden , with whom he was relegated from the 2nd Bundesliga . For the 2009/10 season he was team captain, Wiesbaden finished 15th in the 3rd division .

For the 2011/12 season, Schönheim moved to Bundesliga club 1. FSV Mainz 05 . He signed a three-year contract until June 30, 2014. It was agreed not to disclose the terms of the transfer.

For the 2012/13 season , the second division 1. FC Union Berlin signed him for a year on loan. Following the season, the club used its purchase option and gave Schönheim a contract until 2015, which was extended in August 2014 to the end of June 2019. After promotion to the Bundesliga in the 2018/19 season , Schönheim left the club when his contract ended. He completed 118 second division games in which he scored 5 goals. In the year of promotion, he was not used, also due to injuries.

National team

On August 15, 2006 Schönheim made his debut in the German U-21 national team . He was on the starting line-up for the game against the Netherlands.
