FACES is an illustrated lifestyle - magazine of the publishing Fairline in Zurich ( Switzerland ), the ten issues per year.

Foundation and development

The magazine was founded in September 2001 by the brothers Stefan Berger and Patrick Pierazzoli and started in St. Gallen as a free entertainment magazine for Eastern Switzerland ; In the course of 2002 there were additional editions for Zurich, Bern and Basel with a total circulation of 55,000 copies. Until March 2003, Jürg Zentner was editor-in-chief and Anka Wessely was art director . At the beginning of 2004, the current magazine format was changed and the number of issues increased from four to six a year, a year later to eight and Alex Wiederin , who had also started his career at Tempo , was brought in as creative director and brought in the magazine the kiosk sales. Since autumn 2005, 10 issues have been published a year.

With Maxim Biller , Tom Kummer , Uwe Kopf , Peter Glaser , Marc Fischer , Eckhart Nickel and Helge Timmerberg , authors and columnists were hired from 2005 , all of whom had previously written for Tempo . Other authors are Endo Anaconda and Nick Hornby .

After a test sale in Austria and Germany in April 2006, an edition for Germany was published by Munich-based Lightspeed Verlag from autumn 2009 , which was discontinued after three issues due to discrepancies with the licensee. Two years later, in February 2012, Fairline started its own German edition. Since September 2012 the magazine has also been available in pocket format; In the 3rd quarter of 2013, according to IVW, the circulation was 59,961 copies. The Russian edition, published in November 2013, was the first title of a Swiss magazine to be published in Russia .

Miscellaneous

In Switzerland, the ProSieben channel has been broadcasting FACES Studio , an interactive styling and people magazine, also produced by Fairline , since autumn 2007 .
