Endo Anaconda (2009)

Endo Anaconda (actually Andreas Flückiger; born September 6, 1955 in Burgdorf ; † February 1, 2022 ) was a Swiss singer-songwriter and writer . He chose the fantasy name Endo because Ändu , a Bernese German short form for Andreas, was not understood outside the language area. He was primarily known as the singer of the Bernese dialect band Stiller Has .

Life

Endo Anaconda was born to an Austrian mother from Carinthia and a Swiss father. He initially spent his childhood in Biel . At the age of five he lost his father, a police officer, when he died in a car accident. At the age of twelve he was sent to a boarding school in Klagenfurt ; later his family moved there. In Vienna he completed an apprenticeship as a screen printer .

In the early 1980s, Endo Anaconda returned to Switzerland and played in various Bernese music groups, including Caduta Massi and the Alpinists . In 1989 he founded the band Stiller Has with Balts Nill and together they released their first MC entitled Stiller Has . From 2002 the band performed as a trio with guitarist René "Schifer" Schafer , who had previously been a guest musician . From 2005 the composition of the band changed several times. In total, Stiller Has has released eleven studio albums and three live albums.

In 2005, a selection of his Bärbeisser columns were published by Ammann Verlag under the name Sofareisen ; it was number 1 on the Swiss book bestseller list for almost half a year. As of 2007, he also wrote for Faces magazine . Anaconda had three children from three women, had been a weekly resident in Erlinsbach (AG) since 2018 and otherwise lived in the Emmental municipality of Trub .

Endo Anaconda's first stage play «Unpacking» premiered on March 6, 2010 at the Lucerne Theater .

He died of complications from lung cancer in early February 2022 at the age of 66 .

Political attitude and political engagement

Endo Anaconda was also politically active. Every creative phase requires a phase of leisure or laziness beforehand, while waiting for a good idea, even when writing a song. In addition, money should remain in the economic cycle and not be gambled away for any speculation. If everyone received a few thousand francs unconditionally every month, that could be a step towards a society that doesn't need the money. "Basic income makes money a little less important and people freer." Anaconda was therefore involved in the basic income initiative and also for the preservation of the Romanian water valley railway .
