The training lasts three years. It ends with a qualification procedure (a final examination), which consists of three parts:

  • Professional practice (guide value: 4 hours)
The trainees carry out activities in the four competence areas of care and support , living environment and everyday life , administration and logistics and medical technology as required and in a technically correct manner as part of normal work and / or in set situations . The execution includes the professional preparation, implementation and follow-up including the documentation.
1/3 of the examination result is included in the corresponding subject grade. The remaining 2/3 come from the performance reviews during the last semester.
  • Professional knowledge (guideline: 4 hours)
In these examinations, general and area-specific professional competencies are assessed across all areas of competence, which cannot be examined as part of the practical work. The tests extend to the above. four areas of competence and can be done orally or in writing.
The result of the examination forms the corresponding subject grade in half with the experience grade of the last semester (or the last year of training).
  • General knowledge

The qualification process is considered successful if neither the subject grades Professional Practice and professional knowledge nor the overall mark fall below 4.0 - it is a grading scale from 6 (qualitatively and quantitatively very good) to 1 (unusable or not executed). After passing the exam, the graduate receives the federal certificate of proficiency and permission to use the newly acquired and protected professional title.

Typical work areas

Healthcare professionals work in interdisciplinary teams in a wide variety of healthcare facilities: B. in hospitals , retirement and nursing homes , rehabilitation centers or in the Spitex area . As a rule, they report to the qualified nursing staff . The qualification acquired lies between that of a nursing assistant and a qualified nurse .

The activities of a FAGE come from the four departments:

  • Care and support
  • Design of the living environment and everyday life
  • Administration and logistics
  • Implementation of medical technology services (e.g. injection technology, dispensing medication, etc.)
