history

The mechanical engineering center at the Minden Waterways and Shipping Office goes back to the Minden mechanical engineering office , which was founded on February 5, 1919 and was supposed to set up and operate a building yard in Minden. The Minden building yard was responsible for all the waterways authorities in Hanover. There was a slipway with 12 cars to maintain the watercraft . This building yard was renamed the State Shipyard on November 14, 1924.

On March 7, 1939, the Minden Mechanical Engineering Office became the Minden Waterways Machine Office (WMA Minden).

Since the shipyard character of the state shipyard lost more and more importance, it was also responsible for the maintenance of locks, weirs, security gates and various other land facilities, the designation building yard was reintroduced. On July 1, 1994, the building yard was attached to the Minden Waterways and Shipping Office as a branch.

At the end of 1998, the Minden waterway machinery office was dissolved as an independent authority as part of a reform of the federal water and shipping administration. From it emerged on January 1, 1999, the specialist center for mechanical engineering (FFM), which is affiliated with the Minden Waterways and Shipping Office.
