The Fachverband Homosexualität und Geschichte eV (FHG) is a specialist society for the research field of the history of same-sex love , eroticism and sexuality .

It is the union of men and women interested in gay and lesbian history research and is also the umbrella organization for various initiatives and projects for researching and documenting same - sex history.

The FHG was founded in 1992 and the association is based in Cologne . According to the association, most of the initiatives and individual members come from Germany , Austria and Switzerland . Since 1999 the FHG has published its own scientific publication, Invertito - Yearbook for the History of Homosexualities, in the Männerschwarm Verlag .

The FHG calls for the promotion of professional work in historical research of the members and their exchange of experiences through regular conferences , advice on questions about financing and organization as well as the support of new initiatives with their establishment as goals .

Creation environment

After after the beginning of the lesbian and gay movement , the need had arisen for an independent history, the gay and lesbian historical research had in recent years in numerous independent projects worked homosexualities all genders in different eras to reconstruct. In addition to individual university research projects, numerous archive projects , museums and historical associations were created in Germany and other European countries . The professional association for homosexuality and history was founded in 1992 to make the individual initiatives better known to one another and to stimulate the supra-regional exchange of knowledge and experience.
