content

The high school in the small American town of Shilow has a problem: according to some parents, their football team is not as good as it could be. The coach - Grant Taylor - is no longer able to lead the team. This opinion is confirmed when one of the best players leaves and the team loses the first games of the new season. One evening, when the trainer is in the office a little longer because of personal problems, he learns that he is being asked to be expelled. In addition, he is haunted by bad luck: his doctor says he will not be able to father children, the car is broken and more. Even as a devout Christian, he is desperate and quarreled with God. But he puts his life, his problems and everything else in God's hands. He creates a new concept for his team, which says that they should play to serve God.

And God helps him - the team wins because they play with the right attitude in their hearts, but even more - something changes in the players and students too. Many find God and start a new life. God answers the prayers of another man who prays for the students. And the small and big problems in the private sphere of the trainer are also solved.

Their explanation for the happy turn of events is simple: because they want to serve God, God leads the team of the “Shilow Eagles” to the finals - there the undefeated “Giants” wait, but they too can defeat them in faith.

Film music

The film's soundtrack comes in part from various Christian bands, including the soft rock band Casting Crowns , Third Day and Bebo Norman .

reception

The film received mediocre and negative reviews from renowned newspapers. At Rotten Tomatoes, for example, he received only 13% approval of the listed reviews. On the other hand, the film was received positively from the Christian side. Richard Propes wrote on The Independent Critic : “Although I would not dare to call this film perfect, I would be bold enough to call it a film that portrays a preacher as he should preach as a Christian. He is a preacher without condescension but also without hesitation. He is a preacher without aggressiveness, but with all his heart and assertiveness. He is a preacher with a warm heart, which is missing far too often, even in today's Christian films. "

The film was a success at the box office. Coming in from Sherwood Pictures for 100,000 US dollars turned low-budget film took a total of over 10 million US dollars. DVD sales were also very successful: with 1.274 million DVDs sold, over $ 20 million was made.
