Bebo Norman
Jeffrey Stephen "Bebo" Norman (born May 29, 1973 in Columbus , Georgia , USA ) is an American singer , guitarist and composer from the field of Christian pop music .
Beginnings
Norman was originally involved in Young Life , a US Christian youth organization , and garnered a sizeable fan base by playing at their summer camps. There he met with the musician Matt Wertz and the producer Ed Cash (also produced Amy Grant , Chris Tomlin , Bethany Dillon ), who were also involved in Young Life. Up to his third album Big Blue Sky , the CDs were accompanied by a sheet of paper calling for donations to this organization. His song Walk Down This Mountain is based on experiences on a "Young Life Wilderness Ranch".
Norman graduated from Presbyterian College in Clinton, South Carolina.
First album
His debut album is called The Fabric of Verse , was recorded "independently" in 1996, but was re-released in December 1999 by the Watershed Records label . In the same year (September 1999) the follow-up album entitled Ten Thousand Days was released by the same label Watershed Records . Therefore, this is sometimes referred to as a debut album.
Musical development
After the first two albums, Norman switched to the Essential label , which released his other albums Big Blue Sky , Myself When I Am Real , Try , Between the Dreaming and the Coming True (September 2006) and Great Light of the World: The Best of Bebo Norman brought out.
From 2007 he will be performed by the artists of the BEC label (BEC has, among others, Kutless and Jeremy Camp under contract). With this record company he released the Christmas album Christmas ... From The Realms Of Glory in October 2007 .
According to the English Wikipedia site Myself When I Am Real , his most successful CD to date was his songs Great Light of the World , Falling Down , Disappear , Nothing Without You , I Will Lift My Eyes and Borrow Mine .
The title of his current studio project Between the Dreaming and the Coming True is based on the book of the same name by the author Robert Benson . It describes the tension between everyday life on this earth and the hope of eternal glory that awaits Christians. It was produced by him together with Jason Ingram (wrote songs for Building 429 , Sonicflood , Rebecca St. James , among others ), who had a large share in the songwriting. His song To Find My Way To You was for promotional clips of CBS - sitcom The Class used.
Norman's fans are called Simpletons - in German, for example, simple- minded people .
He is currently working with the charitable organization Compassion International , which primarily looks after sponsorships for children in need.
Two radio singles were released in July 2008 for the album "Bebo Norman", which will be released in September: "Pull me out" and "Britney". In "Britney" he apologizes to Britney Spears for the difficult, hard time she had with the population, as they always picked on her and watched her crash instead of helping her.
