Life

Bethany Dillon was born the third child of Bill and Tina Adelsberger in Bellefontaine, Ohio, USA. She has an older sister and an older brother and four younger brothers. Her sister is married to Shawn McDonald, a Christian singer and songwriter.

Dillon's musical career began at the age of 13 when she recorded an "independent" album called Vulnerable , which caught the attention of Sparrow / EMI producer Brad O'Donnell.

Her debut album Bethany Dillon was released in 2004. It was the best-selling Christian debut album by a female solo artist of the year and garnered two GMA nominations for both Female Vocalist of the Year and New Artist of the Year . The two radio singles All I Need and Beautiful from this album achieved good positions in the US charts. In the summer of 2004 she took part in the Shane & Shane Tour and accompanied Bebo Norman on his tour in the fall of 2004.

Dillon released her second label album in 2005, entitled Imagination . Both the debut album and its follow-up Imagination were produced by Ed Cash (GMA's 2005 Producer of the Year), who also co-wrote some of the songs, while Dillon himself wrote or co-wrote all of the songs except for Cover version of the classic Lead Me On by Amy Grant on the debut album. In the fall of 2005, she shared the stage with Jeremy Camp on the Restored Tour .

For her third work in album format, entitled Waking Up , two other producers were brought in: Will Hunt and John Alagía (also produced John Mayer , Dave Matthews Band and Mandy Moore ). It was released in April 2007. According to her own admission, this was the happiest record she had made, despite dealing with topics like brokenness and the feeling of being very, very small in the presence of God. In late 2007 Dillon was a special guest on the Live In This Moment tour with Steven Curtis Chapman and Sanctus Real.

Dillon also appears on the soundtrack album Music inspired by the Chronicles of Narnia with the song Hero . She describes herself as a Narnia fan. A song on the CD Imagination called Dreamer is played as film music during the credits of the film of the same name ( Dreamer - A dream comes true ). A video clip was also created for "Dreamer" with elements from the film.

She publishes self-written, often very personal, diary entries.

From February to May 2008 she appeared on the tour series Vision of You Tour - I Will Go Tour , which led through the USA and Canada, together with Shane & Shane, Starfield and speaker and author David Nasser. In 2008 an acoustic album called So Far: The Acoustic Sessions was released .

She is committed to the work of Gospel for Asia , to whose project in India she went on a trip in 2006. a. inspired the song Beggar's Heart .

In 2012 she released the live EP To Those Who Wait , still under her old stage name Bethany Dillon.

In 2016, Dillon and her husband Shane Barnard released the song Covenant on YouTube along with a fundraising campaign to finance a new studio album. With the help of 860 supporters, the album A Better Word was self-published on February 10, 2017 under her new stage name Bethany Barnard .
