Hermann Bredenfeld (born November 3, 1947 in Essen ) is a former German soccer player.

career

The trained industrial clerk began his career at Wacker Steele and then came to Hertha BSC via Schwarz-Weiß Essen . His career began in the DFB's national student and youth team. On May 24, 1963, the student was a member of the student eleven who defeated England in Heilbronn with 3-1 goals. On November 7, 1965, he made his debut at the international match in Belgrade against Yugoslavia in front of goalkeeper Norbert Nigbur in defense on the side of Egon Köhnen in the youth national team . In 1966, the DFB played seven A-junior international matches, including the UEFA junior tournament in Yugoslavia, Bredenfeld was used in all games. He is featured in the youth national team with a total of eight international appearances. While he played at SW Essen from 1966 to 1968 in what was then the second -rate regional football league West (60 games / 2 goals), he was allowed to play in midfield for the Berlin Bundesliga club . With Essen he reached the runner-up in the west in 1966/67 and took part in the promotion round to the Bundesliga with the Uhlenkrug team. With one point behind Borussia Neunkirchen, he missed promotion to the Bundesliga with SW Essen. From 1968 to 1970 he played 33 games for Berlin and scored 6 goals. He then moved to the regional league, first in 1970/71 (4th place; 27-2) to TSV 1860 Munich , then to Rot-Weiss Essen . With RWE he was runner-up behind Wuppertaler SV in 1971/72. In the second year, 1972/73 , he was in 20 league games with a goal when the team from Bergeborbeck celebrated the championship. In the successful promotion round he played two games.

Then he got hired at FC St. Pauli and came in 1973/74, the last year of the old second-rate regional league, to the runner-up in the north, to which he had contributed two goals in 26 league games alongside teammates Horst Wohlers and Franz Gerber . In 1975 he returned to the Bundesliga. The newly promoted Karlsruher SC had invested heavily in 1975 to keep the class, which also succeeded, if only for two seasons. In 1977, the team said goodbye to the 2nd Bundesliga. Hermann Bredenfeld had played 56 Bundesliga games and scored five goals for Baden. Then followed 26 second division games with one goal before he moved to SC Viktoria Köln . Here he let his career end in 39 second division games from 1978 to 1981. After his career he studied at the University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration and now works in the public service.
