Flag and coat of arms of the canton of Jura
The coat of arms and the flag of the canton of Jura show three silver bars in red on the left and a crosier on the right . The resulting seven stripes stand for the seven administrative districts in the historical area of the Principality of Basel in what was then the canton of Bern , which were discussed when the canton was founded. At the end of the various referendums in the 1970s, however, the canton of Jura was formed from just three districts, namely Delsberg , Pruntrut and Freiberge . The Basel staff commemorates the membership of the Principality of Basel, which existed until 1815. The stand colors are white and red.
Blazon
The blazon of the coat of arms of the canton of Jura reads: Split of silver with a red bishop's staff and of red with three silver bars .
