According to a survey by the United States Census Bureau , Fairfield has a total area of 0.7 square miles (1.8 km 2 ), and has no bodies of water within its boundaries. Fairfield is north of Carroll Valley on the road to Gettysburg , northwest of the 275 m high Mc Ginley Hill .
