The Fakfak Mountains ( Indonesian Pegunungan Fakfak ) are a mountain range on the Bomberai Peninsula , in western New Guinea . It forms the backbone of the Fakfak peninsula between the Bay of Bintuni and the Seram Sea . The mountains are located in the Indonesian administrative district of Fakfak ( Papua Barat Province ).
The fauna of the Fakfak Mountains includes the black-eared bower bird and Oninia senglaubi , a member of the narrow-mouthed frog family. There is also a population of birds of paradise in the Fakfak Mountains, which for a long time was assigned to the long-tailed Paradigalla . It is now assumed that the population found there is an independent, scientifically not yet described species from the genus Paradigalla .
