The Faculty of Political Science and International Studies of the University of Warsaw (Polish abbreviation WNPiSM UW) - Faculty of the University of Warsaw that conducts didactics and scientific research in the fields of political science , social policy , foreign relations , internal security and European studies . She also conducts studies in English: Political Science, International Relations oraz European Politics and Economics.
The Faculty of Political Science and International Studies is one of the largest institutions in Central Europe dealing with didactics and research. The scientific community consists of over 180 academic staff who are involved in over 20 research grants. Within the walls of the faculty, 3,500 students and around 100 doctoral students are trained. Scientific achievements increase by several dozen publications every year: articles, journals, books and scientific events, conferences and seminars. As part of its international cooperation, WNPiSM UW has signed almost 250 contracts with foreign university centers.
The disciplines led by WNPiSM UW are getting higher and higher grades on a global scale after the institution maintains its position as the leader in teaching political science. Political science and foreign relations currently occupy one of the places in the 300 to 400 places in the Shanghai University Ranking 2020, but in the QS World University Ranking it was in one of the positions 151-200.
history
The history of the University of Warsaw dates back to 1816. A hundred years later, in 1917, the first political science school was established as part of the university. The beginnings of today's faculty can be traced back to the Institute for Political Science, which was founded in 1967 as part of the structure of the Philosophical Faculty. In 1975 the Faculty of Journalism and Political Science was founded, which over time expanded the research area to include foreign relations, social policy, European studies and internal security. In 2016, the faculty left the academics in journalism, which led to the fact that the name of the faculty was changed. Since 2019 WNPiSM has been working in a new structure in which 15 scientific departments and 2 research centers have been set up.

On July 1, 2019, a new organizational structure of the faculty came into force, which strengthened the research activities and within the framework of which, the faculty was divided into 15 strong scientific centers and 2 independent research centers:

Cooperation with domestic institutions
The Faculty cooperates with: the Office of the President of the Republic of Poland , the Office of the Chairman of the Council of Ministers, the Social Insurance Institute ( Zakład Ubezpieczeń Społecznych ZUS), the Ministry of Interior , the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , the State Academy of Sciences , the Fire Brigade Secondary School , Police College , the Border Guard together.
Cooperation with foreign institutions
The department works with: the European Commission , the European Parliament , the European Economic and Social Committee , the Representation of the European Commission in Poland, the International Labor Organization (ILO), the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
The faculty cooperates with 212 universities as part of the European Erasmus + program . In addition, the faculty has signed bilateral agreements with many prestigious universities in the world, including:

The faculty is known for regularly held prestigious international science conferences and seminars, in which the world's most famous researchers in their field take part.
building
In 2017, the faculty moved to the historic, renovated auditorium building located on the main campus of Warsaw University in the center of Warsaw (reference). The renovated building has faculty administration offices and classrooms. The largest of them - the Prof. Jan Baszkiewicz Aula - has 150 seats and is one of the most modern rooms of its kind at the University of Warsaw. The building also houses a modern focus research studio with a Venetian mirror .
