Falcão , real name Alessandro Rosa Vieira (born June 8, 1977 in São Paulo ), is a Brazilian soccer and futsal player . He is a successful goalscorer for the Brazilian national futsal team and has been named the best futsal player in the world several times by FIFA .

Life

Alessandro Rosa Vieira grew up in the Brazilian city of São Paulo, where he started playing football on the street as a child. Futsal struck him as more interesting, as he had more contact with the ball. His nickname is reminiscent of Paulo Roberto Falcão , a successful Brazilian soccer player in the 1970s and 1980s.

Falcão is known for his striking and effective dribbles and a powerful and precise left foot. His height is 1.77 m and he weighs 74 kg.

Falcão began his football career with the Corinthians São Paulo in 1992. His great talent brought him a place in the Brazilian national futsal team at the age of 17. Falcão scored 200 goals in 150 appearances for the Brazil national futsal team. In 2010 he reached the hit mark of 279, with which he exceeded the previous Brazilian futsal top scorer Manoel Tobias by one goal.

At the FIFA Futsal World Cup in 2004 and 2008 , Falcão was named the world's best futsal player by FIFA with the adidas Golden Ball . In 2004 he scored 13 goals, which made him the top scorer at the same time, in 2008 he scored 15 times. He is now the record player in both categories of this tournament with 48 goals and 34 games in five tournaments.

Falcão tried several times, unsuccessfully, to gain a foothold in conventional football. However, after playing at the São Paulo Futebol Clube for the first half of 2005 , Falcão returned to futsal as coach Émerson Leão had only used him in 6 of 21 games there. He then played for Malwee / Jaraguá, a team from Jaraguá do Sul, and won the Liga Futsal (Brazilian Futsal Championship) in 2005. In 2008, he helped the Brazilian national futsal team win the fourth FIFA Futsal World Cup title.

In 2012 Falcão moved from Santos FC Futsal to ADC Intelli in Orlândia , São Paulo , with whom he has a one-year contract until December.

Falcão is one of the highest paid futsal players in the world. He earned around 25,000 US dollars a month at the Malwee / Jaraguá club. His other sources of income include commercials and his company Falcao Sport , through which he runs futsal schools and sells his own clothing brand. Falcão is married and has two sons.
