research

Leichsenring, together with specialist colleagues, examined the effectiveness of psychodynamic psychotherapies. In his research he was able to scientifically prove that psychoanalytically oriented therapy is effective for people suffering from various mental disorders. He also conducts comparative studies, which enable a comparison of different forms of psychotherapy.

In collaboration with Henri Chabrol, he developed a self- assessment sheet for people with borderline personality disorders as a psychological diagnostic tool .

In the field of psychotherapy research, he rethought different research settings and approaches and recommends a quasi-experimental setting for investigating the effectiveness of psychotherapy , which has a higher relationship to the field under investigation and thus a higher significance. He also recommends avoiding randomization (so-called controlled studies), since waiting and placebo groups have now been adequately investigated.
