legal form

In contrast to the state chambers of psychotherapists, the federal chamber of psychotherapists is not a corporation under public law or a chamber in the sense of professional law , but an unregistered association without its own legal capacity . The seat of the Federal Chamber of Psychotherapists is Berlin, the office is not far from Alexanderplatz in Berlin-Mitte , Klosterstrasse 64.

Origin and history

The Federal Chamber of Psychotherapists was founded on May 17 and 18, 2003 by the presidents of the nine regional chambers of psychotherapists. The founding president was the behavior therapist Detlev Kommer, who died in 2005 . The BPtK was created as a result of the amendment of the health professions chamber laws of the federal states and the legal restructuring of psychotherapeutic medicine in the form of the Psychotherapists Act (PsychThG) that came into force in 1999 . The establishment was completed, although at that time not all federal states had established their own chambers.

It meets at least once a year, but mostly twice a year, and consists of delegates from the twelve regional chambers. According to the statutes, these should be composed in such a way that the professions of psychological psychotherapists as well as child and adolescent psychotherapists are represented in the chamber assemblies in proportion to their representation. Among other things, the DPT decides on professional guidelines for the Federal Chamber of Psychotherapists, elects the federal executive board, forms specialist committees and commissions and is responsible for budgetary decisions.

Federal Executive

The Federal Executive Committee conducts the day-to-day business and implements the resolutions of the Federal Delegate Assembly. He also consults with the regional council on chamber and country-specific issues. The federal board consists of the president, two vice-presidents and two assessors. It currently includes:

Each regional chamber can send two PiA representatives. The spokesman elected there and his deputies are PiA contact persons for the federal board and can take part in board meetings upon invitation.
