Farina (family)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Farina family originally comes from Ancona in central Italy and is mentioned in numerous documents from 1264 to 1410.

After the plague epidemic in the 15th century, they settled in Craveggia in northern Italy and then founded the town of Santa Maria Maggiore (Piedmont) in the Vigezzo Valley with six other families.

The most famous representative of the family, Johann Maria Farina (1685–1766) created a new fragrance, which he called Eau de Cologne , thereby laying the foundation for modern perfumery .
