description
Faro de Tostón, about four kilometers north of El Cotillo , is an ensemble of buildings with three different towers:
- The first beacon was built in 1897. It consists of a single storey house for the beacon keepers and a six meter high tower.
- Due to the low fire height of the first beacon, a new, octagonal and 15 meter high tower was built in 1960.
- A third tower took over the function of the beacon in 1986. It is 30 meters high and painted red and white.
The facility can be visited and houses a museum for traditional fishing in Fuerteventura, but it is not possible to climb the tower.
