Fatoumatta Ceesay ( Fatoumatta M. Ceesay , born December 26, 1998 ) is a Gambian beach volleyball player .

Career

Ceesay plays for the Interior club . At the first major Gambian beach volleyball tournament in September 2014, she competed with Amie Gaye .

Since 2015 she has been playing as a representative of Gambia on an international level. It was used for the first time in qualifying for the 2016 Summer Olympics in January 2015 in the first round in Dakar .

At the CAVB Beach Volleyball Continental Cup 2014-2016 , Ceesay and the Gambian team made up of Aminata Gaye , Abie Kujabi and Sainabou Tambedou made it to the third round (final round) of the 4x4 tournament. In April 2016 in Abuja (Nigeria), the team lost four out of five games and were eliminated. This ended a winning streak of fifteen games in a row.

Ceesay won the Gambian championship together with Mariama Ginadou (Interior) in the 2018/19 season. They defeated Abie Kujabi , who had previously won twice in a row (2014, 2016/17), and her team partner Nyima Demba (Gambia Armed Forces).

At the African Beach Games 2019 in June, Kujabi and Ceesay were eliminated in the quarter-finals. They finished tenth at the 2019 African Games in August. At the World Beach Games 2019 in October, the team of Kujabi, Ceesay, Gaye, Tambedou, Ginadou and Anna Marie Bojang took fifth place in 4x4 beach volleyball.

In January 2020, Ceesay and Kujabi failed to qualify for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
