Fattatenda (spelling variant: Fatta Tenda , Fattenenda and Fatatenda , Fatotenda ) is a town of historical importance in the West African state of Gambia .

According to a calculation for 2013, around 48 people live there, the result of the last published census from 1993 was 35.

geography

Fattatenda is located in the Upper River Region in the Wuli district and is about two kilometers from Badja Kunda and 25 kilometers from Basse Santa Su , is on the Gambia River and has a pier there. The river, which is 100 meters wide and four to six meters deep even in the dry season , which lasts from December to April, reaches a height of twelve to sixteen meters higher during the rainy season.

history

The Portuguese had already established a trading post (also a trading post ) here in the 15th century . At that time the kingdom of Wuli ruled in the area , which was under the Mali Empire . At the end of the 19th century, the French Compagnie Française d'Afrique Occidentale had a trading post here and in Yarbutenda .
