Faty Papy (born September 18, 1990 in Cibitoke, Bujumbura , † April 25, 2019 in Piggs Peak , Eswatini ) was a Burundian football player .

Career

Papy began his active career as a football player in Burundi with Inter Star Bujumbura , where he first played in the youth teams and from 2007 also in the professional team. At the end of 2008 he moved to Trabzonspor in Turkey, but was not used in any competitive game and was awarded to MVV Maastricht for the 2009/10 season. In January 2011 he left Turkey and signed for APR FC in Rwanda .

International

He played his first game for the Burundian national team on June 1, 2008 in a 1-0 win against the Seychelles in qualifying for the 2010 World Cup .

death

Papy, who suffered from heart problems, collapsed during a soccer game for his club Malanti Chiefs FC in Swaziland on April 25, 2019 . He was pronounced dead in the hospital.
