Fawzi El-Abrashy

Fawzi El-Abrashy is a retired Egyptian table tennis player .

Career

El-Abrashy took part in a total of six world championships between 1951 and 1969 , with his greatest successes in men's doubles. During his first participation in 1951 in the Austrian capital Vienna , he and his partner Abdel Hay Abou Heif reached the quarter-finals, where they failed at 20:22, 9:21, 16:21 against the Englishmen Johnny Leach / Jack Carrington . With his partner Mohamed Safaa El-Abrashy came in 1959 in Dortmund in the round of 16 and was eliminated there against the Swedish pairing Hans Alsér / Åke Rakell in five sets. In both tournaments no African pair achieved a better result in the men's doubles.

In addition, the Egyptian won gold in all four disciplines at the 1956 Arab Championships, ten years later gold in the men's team competition and silver in the individual. At the African Championships in 1962 and 1964 , El-Abrashy won silver in singles and mixed doubles (1962 with Ines El-Darwish , 1964 with Naila Naser ), and gold in men's doubles (1962 with Adel Fahmy , 1964 with Monir El -Kirdani ) and with the men's team.
