Fed to the Lions is the first studio album by the English classic rock / blues rock band Tax the Heat . The album was released on April 8, 2016 via Nuclear Blast .

Emergence

The album was in the in October 2015 recording studio The Chair Works studio in Castleford ( Yorkshire included). The album was produced and mixed by Evansson, who has previously worked with artists such as Robert Plant , Siouxsie Sioux and Goldfrapp . All titles were recorded live using modern technology. From overdubs been omitted. With Devil's Daughter , Caroline and Fed to the Lions three songs from the EP released in 2013 were re-recorded for the album. The mastering was done by Tim Debney.

With the album title, the band wants to say that many young bands are being fed to the lions of the music business. A total of four music videos were produced, with those for the songs Fed to the Lions and Highway Home released in 2014. In 2016 the videos for the songs Animals and Learn to Drown (You're Wrong) were made .

Eberhard Podzuweit from the online magazine Metal.de described Fed to the Lions as an "album that is fresh and varied and is ideally suited to bring a little sun and a good mood into every gray day," for which he awarded eight out of ten points . According to Lothar Gerber from the German magazine Metal Hammer , Tax the Heat would "be pretty bold" when quoting their role models. Nevertheless, the band would "understand their craft", the " riffs and hooks are right", which makes Fed to the Lions "a thrilling debut". Gerber awarded five out of seven points. For Thomas Kupfer from the German magazine Rock Hard , the album has "no real stinker at the start", but complained that the album on the other hand has "only a few compelling hits". Kupfer rated the album seven out of ten points.

Fed to the Lions debuted at number 100 on the UK album charts . The British magazine Classic Rock led Fed to the Lions at number 19 of the best albums of the year, 2015.
