Federico Amodeo

Federico Amodeo (born October 8, 1859 in Avellino , † November 3, 1946 in Naples ) was an Italian mathematician and mathematician .

Amodeo received his Laureate Degree in Mathematics in Naples in 1883. From 1890 until his retirement in 1923 he taught as a professor at the Technical Institute in Naples. From 1905 to 1922 he also gave courses in the history of mathematics there (collected in four manuscript volumes: Compendio di storia della Matematica).

In 1900 he lectured at the International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM) in Paris ( Coup d'Oeil sur les courbes algèbriques au point de vue de la gonalité ) and at the ICM in 1908 he proposed the establishment of an archive for mathematics.

He published on algebraic and projective geometry and the history of mathematics, including a two-volume history of mathematics in Naples (only printed in 125 copies). He was a member of the Accademia Pontaniana .
