In 1900 he lectured at the International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM) in Paris ( Coup d'Oeil sur les courbes algèbriques au point de vue de la gonalité ) and at the ICM in 1908 he proposed the establishment of an archive for mathematics.
He published on algebraic and projective geometry and the history of mathematics, including a two-volume history of mathematics in Naples (only printed in 125 copies). He was a member of the Accademia Pontaniana .
