Federico Montes Alanís

Federico Montes Alanís (born October 2, 1884 in San Miguel de Allende , † December 1, 1950 in Mexico City ) was a Mexican ambassador .

Life

In 1905 he entered the military school from where he was transferred to a regiment of light artillery and there in 1906 was lieutenant of the artillery. On March 18, 1909, he was promoted to lieutenant of the artillery and seconded to the President's staff, where he was promoted to captain second degree on September 12, 1911. From the government army of Porfirió Díaz he moved in 1911 to the troops of Francisco Madero .

In 1912 he took part in the campaign against Pascual Orozco's troops and then returned to the general staff of Francisco Madero.

In 1913 he was captured with Francisco Madero by Aureliano Blanquet and tried to prevent the murder of Madero by Major Rafael Izquierdo. As a punishment he was sent on a campaign against the constitutionalists, which he joined. At the end of 1913 he was promoted to major in the constitutionalists and in February 1914 to lieutenant colonel, after having fought against the troops of Victoriano Huerta in Tamaulipas . In May 1914 he took part in the attack on Tampico and on July 29, 1914 in the occupation of Querétaro where he was appointed governor and military commander.

On August 1, 1914, he took part in the occupation of Celaya and was promoted to captain. José Siurob showed him the Convención de Aguascalientes .

At the end of 1914 he fought as a brigadier general against the troops of Pancho Villa in Tampico. On May 6, 1915 he occupied the governorship of Querétaro again and let fight the troops of General Rodolfo Fierro.

At the constituent assembly in Querétaro in 1917, he represented Guanajuato. In 1919 he became governor of Guanajuato. In 1920 he took over the management of military operations in the states of Queretaro, Guanajuato and Michoacán. He was in command of military zones 1, 11, 17 and 28. In 1920 he had to resign as Governor of Guanajuato because he was loyal to Venustiano Carranza , whom he accompanied to the Sierra de Puebla. There he witnessed the death of Carranza.
