The Feldberg is 815.2 m above sea level. NHN high mountain of the Rhön in Hesse .
It is located around three kilometers northeast of Gersfeld in the Fulda district , near the border with Bavaria and is part of the Hessian Rhön Nature Park and the Rhön Biosphere Reserve . The closest localities are Obernhausen in the northwest and Sandberg on the southern foothills of the mountain. The Feldberg represents an elevation of the ridge that extends to the south-west and extends from the Wasserkuppe to the Heidelstein . The young Fulda flows past below its western slope. The B 284 runs in its section from Gersfeld to Wüstensachsen in an arc to the west and north of the Feldberg. In terms of tourism, the Guckaisee extra tour , a hiking trail run by the Rhön Club , leads directly south of the summit over the Feldberg. The area is used for forestry and partly also as grassland .
On its south side is located on 684 m the castle ruins Schneeberg .
