Felix BJ Wubbe

Felix Bernard Jozef Wubbe (born January 31, 1923 in The Hague ; † March 30, 2014 in Freiburg im Üechtland ) was a Dutch legal scholar .

Felix BJ Wubbe studied classical philology at the universities of Leiden and Utrecht from 1940 . In 1943 he was drafted into the labor service of the German Reich and had to do forced labor in Berlin. In 1944 he went into hiding until the end of the war.

After the end of World War II , Wubbe worked in industry from 1946 to 1952. From 1952 to 1955 he studied law in Leiden, where he worked from 1955 to 1961 as an assistant to the Romanist Robert Feenstra (1920–2013). In 1958 and 1959 he also taught at the University of Münster . In 1960 he was promoted to Dr. iur. PhD . In 1961 he received the chair for Roman law at the University of Friborg (Switzerland) , which he held until his retirement in 1994. From 1965 Wubbe was a corresponding member of the Dutch Academy of Sciences . He was also Vice President of the Accademia storico-giuridica Costantiniana from 1991 to 2010 .
