Felix Heuberger (born March 7, 1888 in Vienna , † January 25, 1968 in Hall in Tirol ) was an Austrian painter , etcher and engineer .

Life

Felix Heuberger was born as the second son of the Austrian composer and music writer Richard Heuberger and his wife Johanna Herr. His two siblings were the older brother Richard and the younger Grete.

Even as a child, he and his family often spent the summer holidays in the alpine region, where he discovered his love for the mountains and nature. During his studies at the Technical University in Vienna he met his future wife Christine Clanner von Engelshofen, whom he married shortly before the end of the First World War . He experienced this as a cavalry officer on the southern and eastern fronts.

He could never really muster enthusiasm for his work as an engineer and so he concentrated more and more on painting. He submitted the first two pictures, which he thought to be successful, to the Künstlerhaus in Vienna in 1919, where both paintings received good reviews, bought and another commissioned.
