Felix Ludwig von Weber

Felix Ludwig von Weber (rarely only Felix Ludwig Weber ; born September 2, 1713 in Schwyz , † April 1773 in Einsiedeln Abbey ) was a Swiss politician .

Life

Weber was the son of Schwyz Landammann Josef Anton von Weber and came from the Weber family . His training is unknown. As usual for members of the family, he held various public offices. He was from 1735 to 1738 Landschreiber , 1742-1748 state treasurer , where he already for 1747 state governor had been appointed, and 1756-1758 bailiff in Thurgau . After all, he was Schwyz Landammann from 1759 to 1761 . In Schwyz he was the owner of the Palais Friedberg , which his father had built at Herrengasse 44.

In 1763 Weber followed a call to the position of Chancellor of the Einsiedeln Monastery . The chancellorship was overshadowed from the beginning by the Schwyz hard and linden trade, in particular by the secondary conflict, the hermit trade. In the course of this, he was arrested, but subsequently rehabilitated. Furthermore, his chancellorship became known through haunted incidents that are said to have occurred over months in 1772 in the Chancellor's House in Einsiedeln.

Weber's file is now in the Weber family archive in the Bern State Archives. The Schwyzer Landamman, Cantonal Councilor and Provincial Governor Josef Ludwig von Weber was his son.
