Felix Thome

Felix Thome (born September 26, 1966 in Uttenweiler ) is a German church historian .

Life

Felix Thome attended elementary school in Uttenweiler (1973–1977) and high school in Riedlingen (1977–1986). After graduating from high school in 1986, he studied Catholic theology in Tübingen and Rome from 1986 to 1991 ( Pontifical Gregorian University ). He passed the main theological examination (Tübingen) in 1991. He completed his pastoral training in 1991/1992 in the Rottenburg seminary .

After his ordination on March 14, 1992 in Stuttgart , he completed the diaconate year in 1992/1993 in the cathedral parish of St. Martin in Rottenburg . After being ordained a priest on June 19, 1993 in Neresheim, he was vicar in the Christkönig congregation in Stuttgart-Vaihingen from 1993 to 1995 . From 1995 to 2000 he worked as a repetitionist at the Wilhelmsstift . After the second service examination ( parish examination ) in 1997 (with the authority to give religious instruction in all types of schools), he was released from 2000 to 2003 to write his dissertation.

From 1995 to 1999 he studied languages ​​and cultures of the Christian Orient in Tübingen, where he studied Syriac, Coptic, Old Georgian, Old Armenian and Old Ethiopian ( Ge'ez ). After completing his doctorate on January 26, 2004 with a thesis on Historia contra Mythos - The Scripture Interpretation by Diodorus of Tarsus and Theodor of Mopsuestia in conflict with Emperor Julians and Salustius ' allegorical understanding of myths (with Hermann Josef Vogt ), he was responsible for the creation from 2005 to 2007 the habilitation thesis is optional. He was a research assistant (2003–2005) at the chair for liturgical science with Gabriele Winkler . After his habilitation on January 30, 2007 with a thesis on studies on the commentary on John by Theodor von Mopsuestia , he was parish vicar in the pastoral care unit Horb am Neckar from 2007 to 2009 . From 2009 he worked as a parish vicar in the pastoral care unit Stuttgart -Vaihingen. Since 2016 he has been the pastor of the Wernau pastoral care unit . In the winter semester 2014/2015 he was appointed adjunct professor at the University of Tübingen .
