Ferdinando II de 'Medici
Ferdinand II (born July 14, 1610 in the Palazzo Pitti in Florence , † May 23, 1670 ibid) was a Grand Duke of Tuscany from the Medici family .
Life
Ferdinand II. Was the son of Cosimo II. , And grandson of Ferdinand I. He followed his father in 1621 in the government of where he guardianship of his mother, the Archduchess was eleven years old Maria Magdalena of Austria and his grandmother Christine of Lorraine was made, which again four councilors were attached.
He himself took the reins of government in 1628, but found himself again dependent on Spain , which his grandfather had broken, and the priesthood. Ferdinand II could not maintain his independence at all in the multiple turmoil of that time and died in 1670, loved by all his subjects because of his mildness and friendliness, although his weakness had left the country wounds that took a long time to heal.
Descendants from his marriage to Vittoria della Rovere in 1634 , the last of the ducal house of Urbino, Della Rovere , who lived in the 15th and 16th centuries. Century had two popes:

- Cosimo III. (1642–1723)
- Francesco Maria (1660-1711)
The marriage was rather unhappy, in the end the two lived separately in two opposite wings of the Palazzo Pitti .
