Ferdinand Just

Ferdinand Fritz Wendelin Just (born May 13, 1919 in Biela near Bodenbach, today in Děčín , † April 29, 2010 in Bonn ) was a German painter and sculptor.

Career

Just was born the son of an architect and grew up in Breslau . During the Second World War he fought as a soldier at the front. His early work as a painter was almost completely lost during this time. After the end of the war he first came to Schleswig-Holstein, where he met Emil Nolde . From 1948 he lived in Bonn .

The focus of his artistic work were abstract sculptural works made of aluminum , which were created using free-form casting . On the theater forecourt of the city of Lünen an der Lippe stands the sculpture "Aufstrebende Stadt" created by him in 1984.
