Martin Vignolle

Martin Vignolle , occasionally Martin de Vignolle (born March 18, 1763 in Marsillargues , † November 14, 1824 in Paris ) was a French Général de division and politician .

Life

Vignolle took part in several battles of the Revolutionary Wars and was awarded and promoted several times for his bravery. Vignolle acted as chief d'état-major in Napoleon's Italian army . Later he was appointed Minister of War of the Cisalpine Republic .

After the Battle of Waterloo (June 18, 1815) and the abdication of Napoleon, Vignolle resigned from his military offices and devoted himself to politics. He supported the House of Bourbon , first King Louis XVIII. and after his overthrow, King Charles X.

During the restoration , Vignolle acted as prefect of the island of Corsica ; later he represented the Gard department as a member of parliament .

Martin Vignolle died on November 14, 1824 at the age of 61 and was buried in the Père Lachaise cemetery (39th division).
