Life

Ferdinand Karpik spent the period from April 20, 1940 to April 11, 1945 in the Dachau and Buchenwald concentration camps . His attachment to Franz Olah stems from these years. The businessman, who worked in Frankfurt am Main , also obtained Austrian citizenship through Olah's instigation .

When the Kronen-Zeitung was re-established in 1959, Karpik acted as a discreet financier in the background, but who in fact acted as Olah's front man. In 1968, the younger Olah confidante Kurt Falk succeeded in obtaining an option on Karpik's 50 percent share. The ownership structure of the newspaper was subsequently the subject of several lawsuits, which ended on January 3, 1973 with a settlement that confirmed the half-owners Hans Dichand and Kurt Falk. Karpik left the Kronenzeitung and the Austrian media world.
