Ferdinand Mathias Baldia (born September 28, 1818 in Neulerchenfeld , today Vienna , † September 16, 1869 in Vienna) was a councilor in Ottakring , the eponymous part of the later 16th district of Vienna Ottakring . The Baldiagasse there was named after him in August 1893.

Life

Ferdinand Mathias Baldia was born in Neulerchenfeld , then an independent community in what is now the 16th district of Vienna, Ottakring, as one of five children of the soap boiler and landlord Joseph Baldia (1770–1837). His older brother Franz Seraphin Baldia (1809-1891) had been a member of the local council since 1856 under the first mayor of Ottakring, Georg Eisner. His son Josef Baldia (1845–1912) became an architect.

Ferdinand Mathias Baldia was a member of the local council from 1861 until his death in 1869 under the second Ottakring mayor Leopold Sailler. He married Josefa Gansterer (1833–1907), the daughter of Mathias Gansterer (1791–1849), after whom Gansterergasse in Vienna-Ottakring was named. From this marriage came three sons: Johann, Josef-Mathias and Ferdinand. Ferdinand Baldia (1860–1936) became an architect and master builder in Vienna-Ottakring.
