Ferdinand Meidert

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Carl Friedrich Ferdinand Meidert (born March 29, 1958 ; † March 12, 2017 ) was a German lawyer and football official . From 2012 to 2015 he was a member of the executive board and from 2013 to 2015 he was also the sports director of the then second division club VfR Aalen .

Career

After studying law and business administration , Ferdinand Meidert worked as a lawyer from 1987 . As such, he had a law firm in Aalen and was also a member of the management team of the sports consulting company IBS Consulting in Thierhaupten, which was founded in 2010 . In addition to labor law and administrative law, his main areas of activity were sports law, association law and tax law as well as business law. He also dealt with the founding, transformation and restructuring of companies and accompanied several professional associations in the outsourcing of corporations. In addition, he worked in an advisory capacity for associations in matters of financing and licensing as well as for companies in relation to sponsoring activities.

In addition, Meidert and his law firm had also specialized, among other things, in representing doctors in claims for recourse after performance audits by health insurance companies and the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians .

Meidert died in March 2017 after a serious illness.

Official at VfR Aalen

In 2000 Meidert joined the then regional league club VfR Aalen as legal advisor . After the previous Executive Vice President Guido Walter left the association at the end of 2011, Meidert moved up to the presidium of the association at the beginning of 2012 and was entrusted with the management. In the following six months, the team under the head coach Ralph Hasenhüttl achieved promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga .

After a relatively good second division season 2012/13, the surprising exit of the main sponsor Imtech at the end of the season in summer 2013 presented the club with considerable financial problems. After the license to participate in the 2nd Bundesliga for the following season 2013/14 could only be secured by the club president Berndt-Ulrich Scholz's assumption of a guarantee of over six million euros , a strict consolidation course was issued for the future. In December 2013, the previous sports director Markus Schupp was dismissed and Ferdinand Meidert was entrusted with his duties.

In October 2014, the club announced Meidert's appointment as managing director, although he retained his previous duties as sports director and member of the executive committee.

Since the club continued to face financial problems, contrary to the license requirements in the 2014/15 season, for the third year in a row, the club's already negative equity was further deteriorated. For this reason, the DFL withdrew two points from VfR during the season. At the end of the season, the team was relegated from the second division. Meidert's contract, which originally ran until 2018, was only valid for the second division and therefore became ineffective on June 30, 2015 with the relegation.
