Ferdinando Monfardini

Ferdinando Monfardini (born November 20, 1984 in Isola della Scala ) is an Italian racing driver .

Career

In 1994 Monfardini began his karting career , where he was active until 2000. In 2001 he switched to the single-seater racing in the Italian Formula Renault . He drove for the Durango team and finally finished 26th in the overall standings. The following year he stayed with Durango and competed in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup, and he also took part in three Italian Formula Renault races. In 2003 Monfardini drove again for Durango in the Italian Formula Renault and finished tenth in the overall standings. In addition, he started for Durango in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup and took part in two Formula 3000 races for the first time for BCN Competición . In 2004 he drove for AEZ for a whole year in Formula 3000 and again didn't score any points.

In 2005 Monfardini switched to the GP2 series , the successor series to Formula 3000. He stayed with Durango for the time being, but was replaced by Gianmaria Bruni after ten race weekends . Monfardini in turn switched to Coloni Motorsport for the last race of the season and thus indirectly became the successor to his successor Gianmaria Bruni. He got five points and was 17th overall at the end of the season. He also drove two races in the World Series by Renault for DAMS . 2006 Monfardini stayed with DAMS and drove as a teammate of Franck Perera the entire season in the GP2 series. He got six points and was 21st overall.

In 2007 Monfardini switched to the GT1 class of the FIA GT Championship and drove an Aston Martin DBR9 . In 2008 he started the GTA class of the International GT Open and drove a Ferrari F430 .
