Ferenc Rudas

Ferenc Rudas , born as Ferenc Ruck , (born July 6, 1921 in Budapest ; † February 11, 2016 ) was a Hungarian football player and coach.

Athletic career

Rudas spent his entire playing career at Ferencváros Budapest , between his debut in 1938 and the end of his career in 1954 he played 276 championship games in the Nemzeti Bajnokság . The midfielder scored 25 goals. In 1940, 1941 and 1949 he won the national championship title with the team, and the national cup in 1942, 1943 and 1944 . In the Mitropapokal in 1939 he reached the final games with the club that were ultimately lost against the national competitor Újpest FC , which was supervised by Béla Guttmann , but he was not one of the players used by coach György Hlavay . In 1944 he was named Hungarian Footballer of the Year .

In June 1943 Rudas made his debut on the occasion of a 4-2 away win against the Bulgarian national team in the Hungarian national team , for which he played three of the last four international matches before the sporting activities were abandoned in December of that year due to the Second World War . At the first international match after the end of the war in August 1945, he scored the 1-0 lead in a 2-0 win over Austria . By November 1949 he played 23 games for the national team, scoring three goals. He played three times in 1949 as part of the European Cup of National Football Teams from 1948 to 1953 , and he also played a game in the 1947 Balkan Cup . The Hungarian national team won both competitions. In the Balkan Cup in 1948 , which was ultimately canceled prematurely , he also ran three times.

After the end of his active career, Rudas worked as a coach. At first he was in charge of Vörös Meteor Vendéglátóipari SC , later he was responsible for Láng SK and the Budafoki MTE . From 1976 to 1979 he was also a member of the Disciplinary Committee of the Hungarian Association .
